High quality does not have to mean higher prices. At Admiral Row, our pieces are handmade with a variety of materials to create that quality piece that you will cherish. All our pieces are nickel and lead free to ensure protection for our customers with sensitive skin. To get more details about each material, please see below:

      GOLD PLATED JEWELRY

Gold plated jewelry is made of a thin layer of gold electroplated over brass. We choose materials with the thickest plating, when possible, to ensure durability. However, we still recommend that our customers avoid wearing gold plated jewelry in water. Also, customers should avoid contact with lotion, perfume, oils, or similar substances to ensure the longevity of the chosen piece.

We recommend that gold plated jewelry be the last item you put on when accessorizing your outfit. At the end of the day, remove your Admiral Row piece and run a soft cloth over it before going to bed. Do not use any polish or soap to clean the jewelry as it could strip the plating. Carefully store your jewelry to avoid tangling and scratches.

      STAINLESS STEEL JEWELRY

Our stainless-steel jewelry uses a hypoallergenic grade 316L for greater resistance to tarnish. Considered one of the safest metals to use for sensitive skins, our stainless-steel jewelry is plated using an IP Plating method, where two layers of material are applied in a vacuum chamber. With normal use, stainless-steel jewelry does not change color and is tarnish resistant. As a result, we generally use stainless-steel for our stackable rings as it is the piece of jewelry that will have the most exposure to water and other substances.

We recommend that stainless steel jewelry be the last item you put on when accessorizing your outfit. At the end of the day, remove your Admiral Row piece and run a soft cloth over it before going to bed. Do not use any polish or soap to clean the jewelry as it could strip the plating. Carefully store your jewelry to avoid tangling and scratches.

      GOLD VERMEIL JEWELRY

Gold vermeil jewelry (or Gold Plated over Sterling Silver or .925 Silver) is made of a thick layer of gold (2.5 microns) electroplated over sterling silver (.925) for maximum quality. As with gold plated jewelry, we recommend avoiding wearing gold plated jewelry in water; and avoid contact with lotion, perfume, oils, or similar substances to ensure the longevity of your piece. These substances could strip the plating of the jewelry and make it appear more silver than gold.

We also recommend gold vermeil jewelry to be the last item you put on when accessorizing your outfit. At the end of the day, remove your Admiral Row piece and run a soft cloth over it before going to bed. Do not use any polish or soap to clean the jewelry as it could strip the plating. Carefully store your jewelry to avoid tangling and scratches.

      14K GOLD-FILLED JEWELRY

14K Gold-Filled Jewelry is one step below 14k gold and by far the best material to use for quality and affordability. Unlike gold-plated jewelry that is electroplated over brass; gold-filled jewelry involves an outer layer of 14k gold that is pressure-bonded to the brass base metal and contains at least 5% gold by weight. This technique is more durable than plated and vermeil jewelry and provides a longer life span for your pieces with the right care. Gold-filled Jewelry is also safe for customers who may be sensitive to metal. However, please be aware that a small amount of brass is still used in gold-filled jewelry, so customers with this specific metal allergy may have a reaction to it.

Gold-Filled Jewelry is also super low maintenance and more durable than gold plated or gold vermeil jewelry. Over time, your gold-filled piece still may need some care. We recommend using a wet cloth, gentle brush, or ordinary soap to clean your AR piece.

Also, we still recommend avoiding contact with the water in the ocean or pool; and lotion, perfume, oils, or similar substances to ensure the longevity of your piece.
